Timestamp Camera — Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 October 2026
This policy covers Timestamp Camera: GPS Map Pro, the iPhone and iPad camera app that stamps the date, time, address, GPS position, a mini map, project fields, a note, and an optional company logo onto photos and videos, provided by AZ & J PTY LTD (ACN 699 901 196, ABN 42 699 901 196), based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
You can use Timestamp Camera without creating an account. Your photos, videos, notes, and projects stay on your device unless you save them to Photos, share them, or export them. Timestamp Camera has no advertising and does not track you. It sends anonymous usage events, such as which screens were seen and whether a purchase went through, to PostHog, our analytics provider in the European Union. They never include your photos, videos, places, notes, or projects, and you can turn them off in the app's settings. We do not run a server of our own.
What stays on your device
Timestamp Camera stores the following in the app on your device:
- Your stamped photos and videos and, if “Keep an unstamped original” is on, the unstamped originals
- For each photo or video, what it was stamped with: date and time, time zone, GPS position, accuracy, altitude, compass heading, address, map image, project name, project fields, note, and check code
- Your projects, recent notes, and stamp settings
- Your company name and logo, if you add them
- Settings such as photo shape, grid, haptics, and whether Pro is unlocked
We do not operate an account or a server that receives this information, and we cannot see or recover it. iOS may include app data in device backups, depending on your Apple settings. Those backups are managed by Apple or by you, not by us.
Permissions
- Camera: to take your photos and videos.
- Location, only while using the app: for the address and GPS position stamped on each photo. Location updates run only while the camera is on screen. You can choose approximate location, which makes the stamped position less exact.
- Photos, add-only: to add a stamped copy of each photo and video to your photo library when “Also save to Photos” is on. It is on by default and you can turn it off in the app's settings. The app cannot read or browse your photo library with this access.
- Microphone: asked for when you first record a video, and used only while you are recording, to record sound with that video.
- Notifications: asked for only if you start the Pro Yearly free trial, to remind you two days before the trial ends. The reminder is scheduled on your device, and nothing is sent to us. Declining it does not affect the trial.
When you stamp photos from your library, check a photo, or choose a logo, you pick them with the system photo picker, which needs no permission. The app receives only the photos you pick. You can change any permission in iOS Settings at any time.
Location in your photos
Your position is part of what the app stamps. It appears in the stamp on the picture, and it is also written into the photo's file information and attached to the copy saved to Photos. Anyone you share a photo, video, report, or export with can see where and when it was taken. Turning a field off in the stamp settings hides it on the stamp, but the position is still kept in the photo's file information while location access is on. Check what you share.
Apple services the app uses
Timestamp Camera works offline. Some features use Apple services when a network connection is available:
- Addresses: to turn a GPS position into a street address, the app sends that position to Apple Maps. This happens while the camera is open, after you have moved some distance, and when you stamp a library photo that has a position but no address.
- Maps: the mini map on the Map stamp, the map on a PDF report's cover, and the maps shown in the app are drawn by Apple Maps, which receives the area being shown.
- Check time with network: to warn you if your phone's clock is off, the app reads the current time from the response to a plain request to www.apple.com. Nothing from the app is included in the request. This setting is on by default; turn it off in the app's settings and the app makes no such request.
- Purchases: Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and confirms the purchase to the app on your device. Timestamp Camera does not use a third-party purchase service, and neither the app nor we receive your payment-card details.
Apple handles this information under Apple's privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive it.
Anonymous usage analytics
While Share anonymous usage data is on, Timestamp Camera sends a small set of usage events to PostHog, our analytics provider, on its servers in Frankfurt, Germany. We use them to count how many people get through each step of the app, so we can make the first photo, the Pro offer, and reports work better. The events are:
- The welcome screen was shown, and whether camera and location access were allowed.
- The first stamped photo was taken.
- A Pro screen was shown, with why it opened (for example the logo, a report, or a longer video) and which of its pages was seen.
- A plan was chosen, and a purchase was started, completed, cancelled, or failed, with the plan type (yearly or lifetime); a free trial started; a restore was tapped; the “You're Pro” screen was shown; “Add your logo” was tapped.
- A PDF report was made, with a rounded photo count (1, 2–5, 6–20, 21–50, or more than 50).
- The app asked iOS to show the App Store rating request.
Each event also carries the app version and build, the iOS or iPadOS version, the device model and type, the device's language and region setting, the analytics library version, the time of the event, a random session identifier, and a random identifier that the analytics library creates on your device, so events from the same installation can be counted together. The identifier is not linked to your name, email, Apple Account, or advertising identifier.
Analytics never includes your photos or videos, addresses, GPS positions or any other location, notes, project names or fields, your company name or logo, file names, or your advertising identifier. Your device's IP address reaches PostHog as part of any internet connection; the app asks PostHog not to work out a location from it, and we don't use it to identify you. Screen and tap tracking, session replay, surveys, feature flags, crash reports, and person profiles are turned off, and we never attach your identity to events.
Your analytics choice
Share anonymous usage data is on when you install the app. Turn it off at any time in the app's settings (on iPad, under Settings → Privacy). Nothing more is sent after that, until you turn it on again. Turning it off does not delete events already sent. Because events carry only a random identifier that the app does not show, we cannot pick out your past events, but you can ask us about them as described below.
We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used and improving it. The events are limited to what we need for that, are not linked to you, and you can object at any time by turning the switch off. Timestamp Camera does not track you across other companies' apps and websites and does not use your advertising identifier.
Separately, if you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give us aggregated usage statistics and crash logs for Timestamp Camera, as described in Apple's privacy policy. You control this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Sharing, exports, and the photo check
When you share a photo or video, or export a project as a PDF report, a ZIP of photos, a spreadsheet (CSV), or a Google Earth file (KMZ), the file is sent only to the app or person you choose with the system share sheet. These files can contain your photos, positions, addresses, dates, project fields, and notes.
“Check a photo” compares a copy you pick with the original stamped photo kept in the app on the same device. Nothing is uploaded.
Contacting us
If you email us, for example with Contact support in the app, we receive your address, your message, and anything you attach. The app fills in only the subject line with its version. We use your email to reply, to fix the problem, and to handle related privacy requests.
Providers and overseas processing
PostHog processes the anonymous usage events for us as our data processor, in the European Union. Support emails are handled through our email service. Opening this policy or another website sends normal web-request information to that website. Our site is hosted by Cloudflare; see the website privacy policy for its hosting and analytics practices. Apple, Cloudflare, PostHog, and email services may process information outside Australia and outside the country where you live.
We do not sell personal information, show advertising in Timestamp Camera, or use it to track you. Information may be disclosed where required by law.
Deleting your information
You can delete photos, videos, and projects in the app. Deleting a project deletes its photos and videos from the app. Deleting the app removes everything it stored, but not copies saved to Photos, separate device backups, or files you have already shared or exported. We cannot recover deleted photos for you.
PostHog keeps usage events for as long as our PostHog plan retains them: one year on the free plan, and up to seven years on paid plans. We keep support emails while we need them to resolve your request. Ask us to delete them at any time.
Your requests and complaints
To ask what we hold, to correct it, or to delete it, email [email protected] with “Timestamp Camera privacy” in the subject. We respond within 48 hours. We will never ask for your Apple Account password or payment-card details.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may also give you rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, or withdraw consent. Contact us first about a complaint. If it remains unresolved, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the data protection authority where you live, such as your national authority in the European Union or the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom.
Children
Timestamp Camera is made for people who document work and places. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not ask for a date of birth or a name.
Changes and contact
The app licence, what the stamp does and does not show, and purchase help are in the Timestamp Camera terms of use.
We update this page and its date when Timestamp Camera's information handling changes, before that version of the app is released.
